Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • One (1) year of previous experience, preferably selling Food and Beverage
  • Experience handling large convention groups of 100 people or more preferred
  • Catering experience at a major convention hotel, with knowledge of banquet operations
  • Ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Handling all group details once confirmed by Convention Sales, including food and beverage programs, menu selections, estimated and actual food and beverage revenue, and setup requirements for catering functions through group departure
  • Managing sub-group arrangements, including credit and space requirements, and responding to new catering business inquiries
  • Gathering client requirements to execute the catering contract and ensuring all necessary deposits, payments, and signatures on contracts, policies, and banquet event orders are obtained
  • Checking banquet space availability and effectively booking the facilities, as well as conducting tours of banquet facilities, sleeping rooms, and other areas of the hotel
  • Producing and distributing event details such as banquet event orders and ordering outside services for events
  • Maintaining a flexible schedule to be present at various functions, ensuring that all catering services are delivered in accordance with property standards and are of the highest quality
  • Conducting pre-convention and weekly departmental meetings and adhering to all departmental policies and procedures
