Requirements
- An advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 10 years’ relevant experience or equivalent military education and experience
- Technical expertise, including engineering, research, and/or project management in one or more of the technology areas listed above
- Project management tools and experience managing large programs
- Experience in creating winning proposals for external funding and secure growth through strong customer relationships and engagement
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Propose and win Department of Defense science & technology programs in areas of interest through technology leveraging, capability development, and strategic partnering
- Provide indirect technical leadership to a diverse and multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists in the successful execution of a portfolio of projects in this area with technical discipline and rigor in project execution
- Interact with Research Center technical staff and Program Offices and all RTX businesses to develop and communicate a strategic vision in the areas of interest to these business units
- Mentor individual contributors on projects and assist in developing technical skills in selected areas
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to provide timely, accurate and detailed reports and presentations to senior management and functional teams
- Working closely with internal and external customers to demonstrate and transition new technologies
- Enhance RTRC/RTX profile with external visibility to professional societies and develop collaborative research relationships with National labs and academia
- Actively participate and support cross-RTX technology roadmaps, strategies, and communities of practice
- Publish in peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings
Preferred Qualifications
- A PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 10 years’ relevant experience or equivalent military education and experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance preferred. TS/SCI preferred
- Prior experience leading research and development programs in the United States Department of Defense, Intelligence Agencies, or Department of Energy focused on nuclear technologies
