Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in a relevant technology field (e.g., data science, computer science, operations research, statistics) or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant data engineering and analytics experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Flourish.
  • 3+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Strong research, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information.
  • Proficiency in project management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience navigating complex multi-agency or company-level business goals, analyzing data sets, and identifying trends, patterns, and insights to improve business processes.
  • Understanding of agile development methodology.
  • 4+ years of experience with SQL (e.g., MS SQL Server).
  • Experience with data analysis techniques to facilitate data modeling and work with large data sets.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as Azure, using tools Azure Synapse.
  • Proficiency in Python and R programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Expanding Research and operational data sets using data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Design, develop, and optimize ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and distribute large-scale data efficiently.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data infrastructure performance, improving query speeds and system efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce data governance, quality, and security best practices to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Build measures, KPI’s, metrics and visualizations that provide visibility into agency operations and the activity around the criminal justice journey
  • Lead the data quality review process, elevating issues impacting key data elements
  • Synthesize findings into clear and actionable recommendations for improving pretrial operations and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain data visualizations using Power BI reports.
  • Work to understand complex business problems and provide recommendations to improve reporting processes
  • Gather data to support business decisions and research
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to identify areas for improvement, raise issues and risks to stakeholders and management
  • Collaborate with other technical staff on data pipelines, system improvement, analysis techniques and opportunities for improvement
  • Increase data literacy and data expertise through mentoring, collaboration, and development of best practices & documentation
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Ensure system and data availability.
  • Serve as the escalation point for business processes, systems, and technology. This would include database, query, and report performance
  • Ensure data services team understands the priorities and meets key deliverable dates
  • Handle the prioritization and triage of planned and ad-hoc request work items, to maximize value to the business
  • Focus on team building, working with the data services team to train, mentor, all while helping to center their personal & professional development.
