Requirements

  • Experience working with High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and/or Single Family Offices, or familiarity with tax considerations in the alternative investment industry.
  • Proficiency using Excel.
  • Proven experience in fund accounting, preferably with a background in a Big 4 accounting firm or family office/multi-family office setting.
  • Proven experience in managing tax compliance, audits, and reporting for a complex organization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and are proactive in resolving issues as they arise.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, advocating for clients internally and providing exceptional support throughout the implementation process.
  • High effectiveness even when faced with ambiguity; comfort in making executive decisions and moving projects forward.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and analyze tax-related data from various sources, including investment platforms, fund administrators, and client portals.
  • Oversee the collection of complex tax returns, including K-1s, K-3s, PFICs, 1042-2, 1095-B, 1098, 5498s, 1099s, and other relevant forms.
  • Run our 1099 program: Coordinating receipt of tens of thousands of 1099s across multiple institutions.
  • Conduct data quality checks in order to identify and resolve data quality issues to ensure accurate tax reporting.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to enhance client value and competitive advantage.
  • Research and analyze tax laws and regulations to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Stay up-to-date on evolving tax laws and assess their impact on our clients and our company.
  • Act as a liaison between Operations, Sales, Product, and Support teams to ensure alignment on tax-related client requirements, product capabilities, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with different teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business operations.
  • Implement automation tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and sales teams to understand client needs and integrate tax considerations into product offerings.
  • Provide tax-related support to clients, including answering questions, resolving issues, and conducting training sessions.
  • Own proactive tax outreach to fund managers, coordinating follow up, and ensuring information is properly maintained and updated in our database.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at a large accounting firm.
  • CPA certification with demonstrated expertise in tax implications within financial operations.
  • Familiarity with the alternative investment industry and the mechanics of investing in private equity, hedge funds, and private companies or have a background in private banking, investment management, or a related field.
