Requirements

  • Mastery of Rippling — including payroll processing, auditing, and advanced reporting
  • 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience, with multi-state U.S. payroll expertise required
  • Strong experience managing Canadian payroll, and exposure to German payroll practices
  • Comfort working with EOR providers in the UK and France to ensure compliance and accurate payments
  • Strong understanding of benefits cost structures, paycheck deductions, 401(k) plans, and tax withholdings
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
  • Clear communicator, especially when explaining pay and benefits to employees
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive data and employee information

Responsibilities

  • Run end-to-end payroll for salaried and hourly employees in the U.S., Canada and Germany, processing multiple payroll frequencies (bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly) for various entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and tax compliance
  • Act as the point of contact for payroll in the UK and France, collaborating with Employer of Record partners to ensure proper payments and documentation
  • Serve as our internal Rippling expert — managing payroll workflows, audits, reporting, and system optimizations
  • Work with the Benefits and People Ops teams to ensure accurate deduction setup for medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, and 401(k) programs
  • Ensure accurate processing of both exempt and non-exempt employee payrolls, including complex pay structures such as overtime, bonuses, commissions, and variable compensation
  • Collaborate with Finance on reconciliations, payroll allocations, and forecast modeling
  • Educate employees on their paychecks, benefit deductions, tax withholdings, and retirement contributions — breaking down complex topics in a clear, helpful way
  • Lead and execute regular payroll audits, ensuring compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Support HR compliance-related tasks including wage garnishments, payroll records retention, pay equity reporting, and employee classification reviews
  • Stay current on legislation impacting payroll, tax codes, and benefit deductions, proactively advising on necessary changes
