Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the design and manufacturing of sheet metal parts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in high-volume sheet metal forming/coating processes (stamping, bending, laser cutting, etc.).
- Strong understanding of tolerancing and GD&T principles.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with sheet metal coatings and finishes (e.g., nickel plating).
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate effectively.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., design engineering, manufacturing) to optimize designs for cost, assembly, and manufacturability.
- Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) analysis to identify and mitigate potential manufacturing issues by leveraging industry-standard design rules.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Proactively identify and communicate potential risks to program schedules, including supplier delays, manufacturing challenges, and design changes. Develop mitigation plans to minimize schedule impact.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring seamless communication regarding any technical transfers or issues.
- Monitor supplier performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities to support higher process yields and reduced cost.
