Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Training as an Anesthesia Technician
- Five years’ experience as an Anesthesia Technician
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Demonstrates knowledge of airway management protocols, including tracheal intubations, fiber optic scopes, C-MAC’s LMA’s, tube exchanger, jet ventilation and AMBU bag.
- Ability to operate and teach set up, use, and maintenance of all specialty equipment (e.g., Belmont, cell savage system, syringe pumps, capnographs, TEEs)
Responsibilities
- Follows essential job duties under the Anesthesia Technician role
- May be assigned by Supervisor to assist with providing guidance and direction to other Anesthesia Techs.
- Updates EMR system with applicable staffing rotation data.
- Under the guidance of the Supervisor, trains newly hired Anesthesia Technicians effectively in the procedures of the department and pertinent hospital policies.
- Orients existing employees to new procedures and/or changes in existing procedures.
- Assists in staff workflow regarding the care and maintenance of anesthesia equipment; provides technical assistance for evaluation of anesthesia equipment when needed
- Assists in ensuring equipment are regularly in collaboration with Biomedical Services; ensures periodic tests are performed on anesthesia equipment in accordance with hospital policy.
- Assists in maintaining documentation for preventive maintenance performance of anesthesia equipment.
- Acts as liaison with Biomed and Pharmacy Departments to maintain standards of supplies and coordination of activities.
- Assists in the communication of departmental goals and objectives and assists in the development/updating of policies and procedures.
- Participates in departmental projects as assigned.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
