Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing and supporting automated instrument and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, mechanics, and software systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Physics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in automation, instrumentation, and controls, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support strategies for automation, instrumentation, and controls to align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Work with a team of engineers, scientists, technicians and gemologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of automation and control solutions for new and existing processes, equipment, and production lines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, specifications, and project scopes, ensuring seamless integration with production.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Analyze and optimize measurement processes through data analysis, process modeling, and simulation to improve overall efficiency and yield.
  • Analyze instrument performance data, identify trends, and prepare regular reports to present to management.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation enhancements, driving innovation within the organization.
  • Establish and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for automation systems and control equipment.
  • Responsible for the regular maintenance, calibration, and overall upkeep of the various automated instruments and processes.
  • Provide technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex issues to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operations.
  • Collaborate with metrology team to develop and oversee quality control procedures for the automated instruments, verifying and ensuring the accuracy and precision of their outputs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols in all automation and control initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience and professional knowledge in at least one of the following fields is preferred: (i) programmed robotic systems; (ii) actuators and linear motion systems; (iii) optical sensors and automated imaging devices.
