Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of leave of absence management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Tech savvy with the ability to easily learn and use new software (G-Suite, HRIS, JIRA) and intermediate Excel skills. Highly proficient with formulas and calculations in excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skill.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the administration and tracking of all company leave programs—including FMLA, parental leave, paid family leave, short-term disability, sabbaticals, and other federal, state, and local leaves—in partnership with our third-party leave administrator.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of leave requests and related documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers navigating leave policies, offering clear guidance with discretion and care.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and our third-party administrator, stepping in for escalations, introductions, and complex cases as needed.
  • Oversee the reasonable accommodation process, ensuring requests are handled with efficiency, compliance, and empathy.
  • Facilitate the interactive process for determining reasonable accommodations under the ADA.
  • Ensure that all accommodations are implemented effectively and efficiently.
  • Stay ahead of evolving federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry best practices, to drive proactive updates to policies and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and company policies and procedures related to leave and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to address complex cases.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for leave and accommodation policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding leave and accommodation issues.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to leave and accommodation issues.
  • Work with a third party vendor as needed to administer leaves of absence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve People programs by developing SOPs, employee resources, and training initiatives.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and generate monthly and quarterly reports that analyze trends within Leave of Absences (LOAs) and Accommodations, and assess the potential impact of these trends on business operations.
  • Take on additional projects that enhance our people experience and align with organizational goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with third party leave administration preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HR-related employment laws and practices preferred.
