Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of newsroom experience, including producing and line producing a television newscast
- Demonstrated experience working with on-air talent
- Exceptional editorial and writing skills
- Experience as a producer of opinion-based content a plus
- Ability to recognize stories with high potential for compelling television
- Passion for storytelling with a strong creative drive
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to establish a team-oriented work atmosphere
- Attention to detail, an aptitude for working under tight deadlines, and effectively handling multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong interest and knowledge of current events, politics, and lifestyle topics
Responsibilities
- Build the show’s rundown with original content and best elements while maintaining editorial structure
- Facilitate effective communication with the show’s co-hosts and on-air guests
- Manage and communicate with talent, producers, bookers, and the control room during breaking news
- Identify and recognize stories with high potential for compelling television
- Mentor and develop show staff including Line Producers, Writers, Bookers, APs, and Production Assistants
- Approve and edit scripts, banners, and full screens
- Participate in daily team meetings to develop show content
- Oversee the execution and production of the show
