Requirements
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD Civil 3D software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- An understanding of materials and methods
- Ability to interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs
- Ability to consistently produce high quality construction documents
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer license
- A minimum of 4 years of qualifying experience
Responsibilities
- Draft procedures and system requirements of clients
- Various design software
- Coordination of municipal, transportation, traffic, and other disciplines
- Complete permit applications for a variety of municipalities
- Flexible pavement design and rigid pavement design
- Geometric pavement and site circulation design
- Preparation of specifications & cost estimates
- Traffic warrants and guardrail warrants
- Regularly has work assignments checked by peer or supervisor
- Direct and train Civil Designers to assist them in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the projects contractual scope
- Additional functions include those listed in Civil Designers’ responsibility.
