Requirements
- Bachelors or master’s degree in engineering (focus on control systems or mechatronics preferred but not required)
- Industry experience developing controls software, performance or system validation related to control algorithms for complex systems
- Expertise in software validation methodologies i.e. HIL, SIL, lab, machine/vehicle
- MATLAB/Simulink (or similar) with embedded code exposure
- Knowledge of Direct-to-Flash methodology for creating experimental flash files
- Hands on experience with CAN Communication and use of CANape
- Knowledge and experience with Lithium-Ion batteries and/or BMS control strategies such as State of Health (SOH), State of Charge (SOC), etc.
- Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes
- Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision
- Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
- Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations
- Self starter with proven project management and problem solving skills in execution and delivery of complex systems
- Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of cross-functional Engineers to deliver robust implementation of BMS control strategies
- Work with customers and product application teams to understand the software requirements to support validation activities; develop and maintain a keen understanding of internal and external customers’ needs
- Work with Battery Module and Pack design and other teams for system integration and validation of control strategies
- Author and maintain FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVP (Design Verification Plan), test procedures/plans
- Develop and own processes for software validation
- Manage software sign-off activities before release
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI)/Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) issue resolutions
- Deliver technical solutions with respect to cost and time
- Communicate tailored technical information to internal and external customers, team members, and suppliers
- Travel to proving ground/customer locations for on-site support of validation/development work
