Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- PE license is desired
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in microgrid or data center design and implementation, including renewable energy integration and energy storage systems
- 5+ years of practical experience utilizing power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, or similar)
- 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a strong focus on electrical studies, power modeling, and data center or other mission-critical environments
- Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals: reliability, load flow, short circuits, harmonics, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of power generation and distribution systems
- Understanding of electrical equipment redundancy levels for Data Centers
- Experience with AI Data Center Power System design and analysis
- Knowledge of UPS electrical design requirements for Data Centers
- Understanding of Fault Tolerant design principles for Data Centers
- Proven ability to create and review electrical schematics, blueprints, and layout drawings, AutoCAD experience required
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IEEE1547-2018, NEC 2020, NFPA 855)
- Demonstrated experience conducting system reliability assessments
- Skilled in fault analysis and developing effective protection schemes
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize power generation and distribution systems
- Conduct load flow analyses, create and review electrical schematics, perform reliability assessments, and develop protection schemes
- Develop and implement plans for existing power generation technologies and evaluate new technologies while delivering up to five nines of reliability
- Define and implement solutions that enhance data center power quality and reliability through in-depth studies (load flow, transient capability, etc.) using tools like ETAP and PSCAD
- Inspect, test, maintain, and troubleshoot power systems and related equipment
- Conduct fault analysis and supervise installation, commissioning, and field testing
- Integrate and coordinate power systems from the grid down to the block level, ensuring top-tier customer uptime
- Provide subject matter expertise across the technical work of multi-discipline engineers and designers
- Effectively work with internal and external teams on the design, build and compliance aspects of the project
- Review and approve critical engineering drawings and calculations, adhering to relevant industry standards and codes (NEC, building codes)
- Continuously update knowledge of advancements in power systems engineering and new technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- PE license is desired
- Prefer candidates with knowledge of networking, SCADA and performance monitoring techniques
- Prefer candidates with knowledge of communication/signaling protocols
- Ability to interface effectively with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
