Requirements

• A current Nurse Practitioner’s license and Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing
• Knowledge in diagnostic techniques and patient assessment methods
• Knowledge in nursing principles and practices for effective patient care
• Knowledge in modern treatment methods for common human diseases
• Knowledge in human growth and behavior in medical context
• Skills in patient assessment, lab test interpretation, therapeutic treatment, and medication administration
• Skills in critical thinking and judgement in consulting additional resources for diagnosis and case management
• Strong oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with a variety of individuals
• Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations, including individuals who may be aggressive, self-abusive, or combative

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams, including evaluation of the heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal system
• Identify abnormalities, such as enlarged organs or masses
• Examine the eyes, ears, throat, skin, and other body systems for signs of disease or malformation
• Perform venipunctures and order necessary laboratory tests
• Interpret laboratory test results to inform patient care
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans as the primary provider
• Treat infections, sprains, simple fractures, and minor wounds
• Prescribe medications, including antibiotics, within authorized scope
• Refer complex cases to physicians or specialists as needed
• Educate patients on health, wellness, and treatment options
• Mentor and guide nurses and health specialists in expanding their skills
• Work closely with physicians to discuss diagnosis and treatment challenges
• Oversee and authorize treatments administered under your supervision
