Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9-10 years of related experience with a credit union or financial institution, at least 5 of which was served in a leadership capacity
  • Completion of one or more compliance certification programs
  • Broad knowledge of, and practical experience with, credit union or other financial institution operating area functions, products and services, and the laws and regulations which apply to credit unions
  • Excellent analytical ability and the ability to manage projects effectively and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems
  • Ability to influence risk balanced outcomes through cooperative discussion and persuasion
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of standard compliance concepts, practices, policies and related state and federal laws

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the development and management of a comprehensive Compliance Management System to ensure the credit union meets all regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing compliance management program in compliance with CFPB and NCUA expectations.
  • Research and monitor emerging risks and regulatory trends and changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules and regulations.
  • Liaise with business lines to facilitate implementation of regulatory changes as necessary through coordination with Credit Union attorneys, compliance staff, Enterprise Risk Management and business lines.
  • Coordinate with business lines to ensure that credit union policies and procedures remain current and in compliance, provide recommendations for any necessary changes, and track and ensure adequate staff training has been conducted regarding such changes.
  • Conduct or lead compliance risk assessments to identify and address potential compliance risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide guidance and support to departments to integrate compliance into operational processes, products, and member services.
  • Function as a liaison with business lines and Executive Office during compliance-related examinations, ensure that compliance issues are adequately addressed with internal, external and NCUA auditors, and monitor corrective action of any compliance deficiencies identified in regulatory reports of examination.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure staff understands compliance requirements and their roles in maintaining a compliant environment.
  • Investigate compliance issues or concerns and oversee the implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports, risk assessments, and findings to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and management of a standardized Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tool to facilitate oversight and optimal automation of compliance testing, compliance risk management, and the regulatory change management process across all products and services.
